Post here your personal metaphors/symbols and definitions of research
This is a blog for Miriam College Psychology Research students (section 2 only). Thoughts, questions, comments and suggestions about research, thesis writing will be accepted. Musings about life, love, death and religion, God, etc. are welcome.
research is also like building a house. it requires a lot of work and planning. it is definitely a hard work but the benefits are endless.
ReplyDeletefood symbolizes research. it has different varities to choose from. each have unique tastes and quality. people may not enjoy others' choices but each of us have our own favorites. food is essential to us humans and every kind has their own means of nourishment. similarly with research, people may not find certain researches helpful but they will certainly find something that will fit their lifestyle and needs.
Research is an expedition. A destination is identified and the journey begins. As the traveller moves, he will meet rocky paths and ravaging, wild waters; in chorus a new understanding and new experiences. He will learn techniques and figure out how to get to his desired path, there may be things he will need to discard, in order to gain new insight. He must be open-minded, yet judicious of what he will encounter-lastly he must be driven, that his soul will remain strong despite discouraging occurrences. In time, he will arrive and realize that he has made a path of meaningful experiences-this he will share to others.
ReplyDeleteResearch can be compared to the element, water because water follows a never-ending process, and most especially, it is essential to human life-same as research. When we would like to pursue something, it is critical for us to know about it very well first. This is the time when research is employed. Research requires us to follow certain procedures to make it a successful one. We gather data, read and understand our data, make a hypothesis, test it, etc. We may obtain an answer in the end but it is not enough to stop there. In time, it will be most likely that what we have discovered will be proven wrong or modified-then the process of research will begin again. Life without research will be very difficult for us, it is probable that the things we have now may not be even be present and that things will be in disorder. In addition, it is a necessity for us to take responsibility for both water and research. Both things can be contaminated and may produce terrible outcome, they both must be dealt with in a non-haphazardly manner because they can become detrimental to the lives of people.
if research were a thing it would be a vegetable. vegetables are plants. they need sunlight, H20 and CO2 to photosynthesize and as a result of this process they release oxygen and carbohydrates. just like research. research needs the cooperation of the researchers (represented by the h20), lots of literature by other researchers (represented by the C02) and lots of patience and guidance from the advisor (sunlight). without all these, the tree will not grow and will not produce oxygen and carbs. oxygen represents the finished research paper and the carbohydrates (fuels the body) will serve as fuel for future researchers to continue our study if they find it useful. i hope that through your guidance dr. baybay, we can make a good research paper and help contribute in the advancement of the field that we will choose to research on.
ReplyDeletedoing research is like going with your groupmates inside a horror house in star city for the first time. we dont know what or when the monster will come out and we do not know the way exactly. we do not know what will happen next, which is even scarier. but like research, going with your groupmates is much comforting compared to going alone because you have somebody to depend on and someone to hold on to when you seem frightened of the unknown. doing research is like walking without certainty inside that house. the monsters symbolize the obstacles that we will face while doing the research; it can be a conflict between group members or lack of copperation. the darkness of the house which makes it hard to see what is coming symbolize our lack of experience in making a good research which makes it hard for us to know our nect step. i hope that in time, doing research will be more like walking along the beach filled with happy thoughts.
For me, octopus is a good symbol of research. Various and inspiring, octopus requires years of study to discover its inner depths and demands number of pages of symbolic explanation just like its tentacles. Just like research, it has own personal journey to tap into the secret knowledge that it will provide. And in making a research, it involves a group to have enough energy to reach the objectives just like this creature.
ReplyDeleteFor my personal metaphor, research is like a treasure hunt. It can be a game of success or failure where a group is given a clue about a certain topic. They think about it and try to find the remaining clues in the next process. Knowing few simple rules can make a research fun and successful. There are also many different kinds of treasure hunts just like in research. The most important to remember in planning a research is to have rules. If a group doesn't have any direction, it is certain to be a disaster. The group need to know what the rules of the hunt (research process) are and how to follow them. There are few decisions that need to be made before the treasure hunt (research) begins. The research process continues for as long as the end clue takes the group to a treasure which is the success/heart of research.
1. If reserach is a thing, it would be a PAINTING. A painting whether an abstract, portrait, landscape or a still life still has its own, unique meaning. It may be interpreted in many ways depending on the perception of each and every individual. At first, you need to choose what you want to paint (just like choosing your topic), your means of doing it, and your reason for doing it. Just like research, it requires hardwork, patience, inspiration, and passion. In addition, a painting is a product of self-expression. Similarly, doing research is like expressing yourself to the world by coming up with your own and new ideas and sharing it to others. For me, research is like a painting, it's something I can get hold of; something others could get inspiration from; and most importantly, something I could call my masterpiece. :)
ReplyDelete2. Research is like solving a crossword puzzle, in order to answer all the questions and find all the answers, you have to research on the word's meaning, you then have to utilize all the available resources ( a dictionary, book, search the internet, etc.). At times, the answer may not be found from these resources, and to be able to fill that "across" and "down" lines, you were able to find a "clue" from one or two letters you found from another word. Likewise, research entails a lot of reading, writing, researching, and utilizing resources. Sometimes you may even come up with your own answers and propositions based on the "clues" you've read or researched. And just like solving a crossword puzzle, research needs patience- it won't be easy but it will all be worth it.
Research/ thesis paper is symbolized by a book. It contains lots of information that can help people better understand certain topics. In fact, just like books; research is something that tackles socially relevant and interesting topics that can be published and distributed in any places. Lastly, research is something educational that people/readers must take into account in order for them to have psychological and social awareness.
ReplyDeleteMetaphor
For me, research is like watching my favorite movies wherein I see different pictures/sceneries and feel different emotions. In fact, watching a movie enables me to think critically in order to understand what the story is all about, it makes me to acquire several new ideas and knowledge regarding certain issues about life and it requires me to spend time, money and effort.
In research, it is necessary to choose a topic that interests me just like I do when I watch movies. Also, research will let me to think critically in order to understand what my topic is all about, it will make me to acquire several ideas and knowledge along the process of doing it and it will make me to spend great time, money and effort in order for me to accomplish doing it accurately on time.
In fact, research is like a story in a movie which composes different parts like setting, characters, themes, plot, climax, etc. It has problems, conflicts, etc .But, despite of it; the characters or the “researchers” will be able to solve and overcome difficulties through their great knowledge and abilities to come up with a QUALITY research paper. Thus, like in the movie; researchers live happily ever after.
If research were an animal, it would be a bird. It should get out of its nest to fly high and get food. Meaning, one has to work and exert an effort in gathering all the essentials in writing the thesis paper and as a group, each member has to contribute ideas to be able to reach the aim of coming up with a good research. Furthermore, birds do fly in clusters. Delighted are we as they fly together so in that case, every work done would definitely get better when a group is united as they surpass research.
ReplyDeleteResearch for me is as brilliant as a treasure box under water. The treasure inside the box represents the success of achieving a good research. It actually requires hard work or to swim deeply into the water to find the treasure. Although time consuming, results in the end will be a great accomplishment.
Keep them posting. The array of definitions shows how creative, varied, different and yet unified are the definitions! You are expressive in explaining your own thoughts. This is a first step towards becoming a good researcher.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for the group definitions. I have received one and a half submissions. I want to create one file for all the 9 groups for you to download.
I am amazed at your metaphors! I am gaining new perspectives about research from you! Keep them coming! This shows your creativity!
ReplyDeleteIf research were a thing, it would be a prism. Prism alone can produce the different colors of the rainbow. So as research, even a single research can give a lot of meaning and clarification to the unsolved and uncleared aspects of human life. If only light will pass through the prism, colors will definitely be visible. Light represents us-- researchers. If only we will give light and be determined to do research, we can produce beautiful things like the colors of the rainbow. Even in clouds, there are prisms. They are just there and will remain forever.
ReplyDeleteResearch is a treasure hunt. Before obtaining the treasure I'd been wishing for, there is a need for exerting effort and patience. Hard work and determination are very important to find the treasure. While looking for it, there will be a lot of possibilities that may happen. There are struggles to face that need to be resolved to find the proper place where the treasure is in. In research, conflicts will always be there. One should learn something from them which can make him/her to be more eager to accomplish the mission. There is a map that can be our research mentor or adviser which serves as a guide all throughout the journey.
If research were a metaphor, it would be like a piano recital. Piano is an instrument that produces sound, it can produce sweet melodies on the other hand it can also produce lousy and infuriating type of music. The music produced depends entirely on the pianist, if notes are studied and practiced well then, good music can be produced but lack of dedication on playing the recital piece, can lead to an embarrassing performance, in connection to research, if an individual or group would only give time and dedicate their time in doing research then a good performance would surface, but, if not prioritized or given time, then, there would be no good foundation, thus, entire paper would suffer and fall apart just like a recital day without a piano on the stage.
ReplyDeleteIf research were a thing, it would be a remote control. A remote holds power on the television, it also allows a person to switch channels and even increase or decrease volume. Similarly, in research, several topics could be generated but a group should stick to one topic they like, just like a show, an individual wants to watch. A topic that is agreed by group members would strengthen interest and most probably would lead to a good output. Another, the volume could signify open-mindedness, a very high volume would indicate that a group is closed and not open to suggestions or other possibilities while a moderate volume would allow a group to listen and generate new ideas and incorporate them to the existing topic. In research, group members should work together or allow each other to operate the remote control and they should also explore and be open to other ideas, by surfing or watching the other channels.
Research can be compared to a dog. A dog is anxious and playful with research one should be keen and be observant. You take care of the dog, in research, working, planning and basically everything you do with your research. In order for a dog to be taken care of there should be love and interest, same goes for research you have to work your way up, simply love what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteResearch is like playing the guitar. It is a process simply by knowing everything about the instrument that your are using, research is seen when you decide on what your topic is. Tuning the guitar is like gathering data in research and letting things fall into place.Learning chords and tabs can be the same in research as incorporating learnings about the research chosen. Playing a song, can be seen as the writing process of research paper. Practicing your guitar can be the same as the revision and editing of your paper. Thus, playing the guitar is a process that needs constant effort and patience ,same goes for research.
if research is thing it would be a cake. cake has gone through a lot of processes an drevisions to achieve its best taste and when it is done, it is now ready to serve its sweetness to those people craving for it.. just like doing research we will go through alot of processes and revisions to achieve the good research that will be serve to poeple who greatly need it.
ReplyDeleteIf research would be a color, it would be “black”. If you mix a variety of color, the result would be black. Just like in a research, it may consist of a variety of ideas that had been gathered so to create a new and improved one. It may look similar to a dark shade of color but when you look at it closely, you will see the difference behind it. In a revised research, though it may seem to be similar to another research but then when you study it further, you can classify its difference to the other research.
ReplyDeleteMetaphor:
Research is like a “star”. We must reach for our goal – to have a significant and desirable research. Just like whenever we gaze at a star, we seldom hope to reach for it though it is far away but then just by gazing at it as it shines, we feel like we have already reached for it. In a research, as we draw together the ideas we had for it, it will eventually be done in no time. :)
If research is an animal it would be an eagle. Aim high and hit the mark. Like in research you must dealt in first with many obstacles and different challenges in order to hit the highest peak of your paper. An eagle can be a leader and a director in getting in the right path. An eagle is brave, tough yet clever as well as researcher, we need to be brave enough in order to defend our own paper, give all our best and cautious enough in our relationship as researchers. Fly high to our highest achievement. :)
ReplyDeleteResearch is like a river, an infinite progression; especially it is necessary to human life as well as in research. In doing the research, we gather data, read and understand this information to have a clear and ideal paper. Our basic need in order to survive in our life is water like in a river; it would be hard for us without this as well as research. Research is helpful in our lives because it has social relevance and the information’s we may get, in different researches, it will lead us in a better way of understanding all those obstacles that will hinder our future. Also, we need to take care of our rivers, and all bodies of water, because God has given that to us and fulfill our duty in rendering care for that. Like in research we need to take care of our own paper, and do all the best we can in order to have a clean and pure research without ethical errors and scrap. Water is universal, flow continuously and transparent, like in research it will be as transparent for other people in scanning through it, as times goes by the meaning of the paper will deeply help other people, and the value of it will be solid. Lastly, it is a need for us to take responsibility equally in water and research. It can be polluted and have awful product. Every lives count.
Research is like a pencil. As we know, pencils are for everyone. Students, teachers, writers, and artists use this tool. Like research, it is for everyone. Everyone has the freedom to make a research paper. Even the most typical student has the potential to have a good research paper. As long as he/she knows how to use his/her pencil well.
ReplyDeleteNext is that, research is like a person with closed eyes. When our eyes are closed, we cannot see anything but we surely know that there are many things around us. We simply just cannot see it. Just like in research, we do not know what we can achieve unless we explore. We need to open our eyes in order to witness the positive and negative possibilities of our study. A good research must not only focus on the positive side of his/her study but also on the negative side of it. Being aware of the negative aspect of the study means being open to the development of it.
Research can be analogous to a butterfly undergoing metamorphosis. Just like a butterfly, research goes through a series of steps and stages before it becomes a beautiful and fulfilling thesis that can be presented to the people. Further, every butterfly begins its life as an egg. Before they are laid, their mothers pick a proper host plant in which they can stay and grow. As days passes by, the eggs transforms into a caterpillar. The caterpillar’s main goal is to nourish itself with food that may enable them to develop faster. As the cycle continues, the body of the caterpillar transforms into an adult butterfly. By the time that the butterfly has finished the process of metamorphosis, though they will no longer grow, they will spend their life reproducing their kind. Similar to research, a thesis starts off as a raw idea. With the help of literatures, the researchers are able to develop a research hypothesis that will be their guide, foundation and host plant in the research process. As months passes by, the research paper develops its direction. In the process, the researchers are particular in choosing which literatures to include in the thesis. Literatures that can appropriately nourish the thesis are considered. Lastly, with the guidance, support and revisions from the mentors, the research paper transforms into a thesis that was finished with determination and motivation.
ReplyDeleteResearch is like a car. Cars underwent a long process before it became an object that makes life more convenient. Though the process was slow, the project was really thoroughly thought about. Every detail was talked about. It went through a lot of processes before it reached its final product. Just like research, once it has been established, makes the life more convenient as it can be an essential contribution to the paper they are producing.
If research is a thing, it would have to be a cake. Before making a cake, a baker should have the different recipes and materials that are needed. Like research, you need sources, variables, and participants to make your study. In making cakes, you should first follow the recipes and step-by-step process it would undergo. A person should be careful in measuring the ingredients, sifting the flour, and checking the oven's temperature to make the cake just right. If not, the cake would taste bad and the bread in the cake wouldn’t have the proper texture, perhaps it would be overcooked or burned. Like doing research, you have to undergo the step by step process in doing a research; collecting sources, getting participants, testing your variables, and analyzing your data. The researcher should be careful in doing these processes, he/she couldn't forward to another step if what the person has done is not sufficient for the study. If a study is not done carefully, the research would have a weak foundation and therefore, would not have a social relevance. If the study that a researcher was properly done, the study would be beneficial to people and would have a great social relevance. Just like a cake that is properly done with creativity, patience, and effort the end result would be beautiful and enjoyed by everyone.
ReplyDeleteIf research were to be an animal it will be a "Dog". Definitely you will find a name that would fit that dog. When you feed and play with them it will develop a certain bond.
ReplyDeleteDog's are called man's best friend and so is your research. Your research is like your best friend in school.
A dog also gives you security and so is your research in the future.
Your performance will reflect on the dog if for example you don't nourish it then the dog will be like so slim but then everyone will know if you really spend time in caring for your dog as it will show in the apperance of the dog.
Metaphor
In doing research you are like a farmer. The first thing to do is to plan what seed you really want to plant. The second thing is to know which soil to plant the seed or to be aware of its grounds. Definitely in order to raise your plant well you will gather data if for example what soil is best for it and also what time of the year.
A plant definitely needs air, sunlight and water and as a farmer you will do anything to nourish this plant so that it will be healthy.
Caring for a plants needs an extra care as there are many instances in where there will be bugs and such but then you will try so hard to let this plant grow.
After acquiring all the things you need the plant will eventually grow healthy and also sometimes it might bear a fruit.
If research were an animal it would be an OWL. Just like in books and cartoons owls are considered wise. The characters go to them and seek for advices and answer. Research papers will help me understand what is unclear to me by providing data and evidences on a certain topic. Like an owl research has big eyes that lets me look vividly into a new point of view that I want to explore more.
ReplyDeleteDoing research is like applying makeup. It’s interesting, enriching and satisfying, especially if you love what you are doing. When applying make up, first you have to put on a base, this will help your makeup last all day and it will make your makeup look more vibrant. Just like in research the researchers have to establish a strong foundation for their research topic. They have to find related literatures to act as a strong basis for their work. Those literatures will equip the researchers with knowledge about their topic, making their proficiency in their topic deeper. Makeup artists use tools; brushes and mirrors to apply makeup and to check on his/her work. In research, the tools are the books, Internet, professors, participants and those who can contribute in making to the betterment of the output. The mirror is the mentor; he/she will guide the researchers on what to do next or what needs to be improved. At first the face looks blank and pale but in the end after putting all the colors (data) and blending (processing) them the artist will come up with a beautiful and unique output. Although makeup artists commit mistakes like smudging the eyeliner, still it can be fixed but not totally omitted instead it becomes a part of the whole look. Lastly, after all the patience and hard work the researchers will be satisfied and proud once their work is already published. Through their research they are able to boost confidence by educating curious minds through their output; just like how makeup boost one’s confidence by enhancing one’s features.
Research is like battling on a cancer. The path that you are crossing is uncertain-thus, some may take it as a hindrance while others accept it as a challenge. The direction we are taking are guided by our experiences, our mindset towards the disease, and the people that surrounds us. Support from friends and loved ones is critical. Having the right resources is crucial. The physical and mental challenges of the struggle are fatiguing. We are taken out of our comfort zone into the unknown, and maintaining hope, even without guarantee of a positive ending, is imperative. Despite of the struggles and challenges we experience, we strive harder in order to withstand the pain. We fight not only because we want to save ourselves from the disease but most importantly, we stay alive and have hope to give security and happiness to our love ones-that is, our presence. At the end, we will realize that this journey we are taking is not as bad as it seems rather this can made us aware of the essence of our lives and of others. Parallel to research, different people view research as either facilitating or impeding. Overall, it is perceived that research impact our lives mostly in positive ways. At first, we are in a blind direction until when we attain right resources enables us to have a more direction. Challenges and problems are inevitable yet these push us to strive for more in order to overcome it. We have learned to take risks, have continually strived to go beyond our comfort zone, pushed ourselves to maximum potentials, and found awareness-our real potential, our essence. The essence of doing research is not just for the betterment of our own selves but rather on the betterment of us, people.
ReplyDeleteResearch can be symbolized by a mirror. Mirror reflects the image of ourselves-our true and unique selves. Similar to research, the efforts, ideas, and hardships we put in constructing the work reflects on whether the research we have made is either good or bad. Mirrors can also be used into many different instruments such as telescopes, cameras, lasers, and any others. It is an instrument that leads to many discoveries and explorations. Research is similar in that way in which it enables us to discover many aspects of the research itself as well as develop our resourcefulness. The resourcefulness to be innovative and creative in finding new ways to do old things. Above all, research can also explore our true selves-what we are best at and capable of. Gaining understanding of ourselves can better help us to extend the help to other people, to the society.
Research is like taking a ride on a LRT station. There are times that we can easily pass through and have a good seat. However, there are times that we need to squeeze ourselves in just to have a good position. Just like in research, having a good choice of topic makes our life easier, it tests our patience and determination, time and effort, and perseverance in making a good paper. This opportunity enables us to pursue original study of our interests. Squeezing ourselves in the train (research) is very challenging. Sometimes, we experience bumps and collisions. These bumps and collisions were struggles (like giving up), in writing research paper that we need to overcome. We just need to work hard so that we can be able to produce a good quality paper.
ReplyDeleteThe process of research is like LRT stations. We need to follow these path (guidelines in research) to have a good output. There are no shortcuts. And, everything must be in process.
If research were a color, it will be blue, blue that symbolizes sea. Sea is deep and many people are affraid on it especially when a boat or a ship sunk, however if you will go through the bottom of the sea, you will see the beautiful sanctuary where many marine animals live and reproduce. Like in research many people would hate research because there's a lot of requirements or revision that should be taking but once you finish a research paper, it gains you a lot.
ReplyDeleteI am a diver, on my way to the bottom of the sea i have to sacrifice myself because of the many things that could happened to me under the water, things like being bite by a wild marine animals and what they call mamulikat. Like research, fist and foremost you have to sacrifice yourself in doing research; you have to take many problems and give solutions on it, problems like searching for sources, revision of papers, understanding your group mates, sleeping late or sometimes do not, and others. However, at the bottom of the sea, I will see the beautiful sanctuary where many marine animals live and reproduce, and sometimes I would rather stay in that sanctuary and never get out of the sea. Like in research, after those sacrificing, you will see the beauty on it, you will realize how proud you should be that you finish a research paper, and you will love it. Finishing a research paper benefits a lot, it teaches you more that you expected, and there's a lot of learning starting from the start until in the end.
I just had a dream that I was severly electricuted and died instantly.
ReplyDeleteWeird to say that I relate research to electricity and die because of it. But I guess the metaphor still fits. Electricity gets a lot of things working. Without it, normal living for us would not be possible especially in our world and time to date. Research gets us going, noting the fact that our course requires it. But even if research was not a prerequisite to graduate from psychology, I still believe its importance is crucial to our modern lives. It enables us to make our minds work, help the minds of other people work, and spark minds to start working.
I don't think I would die because of research, thats just too much of a metaphor for me.
Research for me is like eating Sashimi. Why? Because not everyone loves to eat Sashimi. It's an acquired taste. Not everyone loves doing research. Some people are really interested in doing research because it feeds their minds and it actually makes them feel blissful when they accomplish what they have to. Research is an ACQUIRED TASTE. And fortunately, I acquired that taste. :)
ReplyDeleteIf research were a thing, it would be like a clock for me. Clock symbolizes the importance of time, like in research there's a symbolism of knowledge. Clock does not only represents time. I think, it also mean that the "tick-tack" sound of the legs of the clock enables me to know that there would always be another chance to drive through the wheels of life. Similar with research, as long as people would continue to search for ideas there would always be a research that would come up. Another similarity is that clock has several parts which contribute to it's purpose to give time. In research we use different tools and techniques to be able to achieve a good research outcome. Lastly, to be able for the clock to run there should be a battery or if it is in key there must be someone to do it. In research in some ways they are likely the same, because research would not exist without the person doing it.
ReplyDeleteMy metaphor of research
Doing research for me is like playing my favorite game, chess. It is fun yet requires a lot of critical thinking. It could also be a source of headache but in the end when we finish it there's always be a sense of happiness. Finally like the game of chess, research would not be consider a research unless it has a goal to obtain.
Research is like a PAIR OF SHOES. It brings you wherever you want to go, protects your feet from bruises and dirt, and completes one’s attire. We wear shoes everyday and it allows us to go anywhere we want. It lets us explore the world and see what’s beyond the four walls of our bedroom. Just like in research, it allows us to think critically and question some things that we are curious about. When we finally have this question in mind, it will lead us to seek for facts and refer to previous studies to answer our queries. Like a pair of shoes, a research is definitely necessary for humans. We need to be armed with knowledge for us to grow as persons. Research can prevent us from being futile because we can definitely acquire knowledge every time we raise a question and look for its answers. Our shoes protect our feet from touching directly the ground which is similar to a research because one’s you started researching you should have the foundation and the steps that you will follow. It cannot happen that you will start a research and keeps on touching the ground and going back to very beginning because you don’t have a pattern to follow. It will just eat your time if you don’t know how to do a research properly. I believe that people are born to be inquisitive, but some are just more curious than the others. With these questions, we cannot just stay naive forever. We surely will find a way for our questions to be answered, and that is in a form of a research. We look for facts and evidences that will satisfy our curious minds. Similar to a pair of shoes, a research always has two parts: the one that you wanted to know and the process in finding the answers. It should always go together and be consistent with each other just like a pair of shoes that has the same design for both feet.
ReplyDeleteDoing a research is like TAKING A BATH. You must identify your purpose for doing so, and that is simply to cleanse yourself. At first, you have to be naked. Same with a research, at the beginning you will have nothing that will support your query. You have to find ways on how you can collect data and facts for your naked body to be covered again with clothes. After you have taken off your clothes, you will allow your body to be rinsed with water and soap. By that way, you let new knowledge get in and acquire those things for you to understand the answers to your question. When you feel that you are already clean, you will use a towel to wipe the water in your body and that towel will absorb everything. In a research the towel serves as your outcome, because you will incorporate all what you’ve learned from the research and compile it as a study. After you’ve done all the steps in taking a bath, you will then do the most important thing which is to put on new clothes. Just like in a research, after you’re done with it you have to write it down and create a report out of it. When you put on your clothes, it’s like saying that you have been fed with new information. Before that, you must be able to check whether you have totally rinsed your body. In research, you must be sure that you have a basis for concluding something and an open-mind for other’s critiques. Once you put your clothes on, it is an implication that your questions are already answered and the naked part of you has already been filled.
research for me is like a road where in you have to have focus in order to reach your destination. but then, you will encounter difficulties that you need to slow down a bit and find a way on how you could fix it.once you have found the right way you will realize that you are on the right path. similarly, in research in order to find the answer to the question you will encounter some problems and difficulties but when you know how to solve it, it will be beneficial to the researchers and also to the readers.
ReplyDeleteMy metaphor for research would be team playing a basketball game. Like research, basketbal needs teamwork. The equal efforts and cooperation of each group member is needed in order to accomplish the goals in making the study. In basketball, the players needs to know the right skills; passing, dribbling, and shooting in order to play the game. Like research, the group should know the proper skills; collecting data, analyzing the results, testing the variables, etc. Another skill that is needed would be creating a strategy in order to win, like research a group should make plans in doing their research in order for it to succeed. Lastly, like playing playing a basketball game, a group is vitorious if they gave their best and played the game properly. Just like in research, a group is vitorious if they did the study and it's step by step process very well.
ReplyDeleteFor me, making a research is like receiving gift/present. Everytime I receive gift from someone, I would first feel curious while holing the gift. Then I'll get excited while guessing what's inside the wrapper or box. after tearing the wrapper, i'll suprised because I made the wrong guess then I would happily thank the person who gave that memorable gift to me.
ReplyDeleteSimilar to receiving gift, in making a research, the researcher would first feel curious about what he/she wants to study. After selecting a topic, the researcher would make a hypothesis about what might be the outcome of his/her study and would feel excited to work on his/her chosen topic. When the researcher is finished in his/her research, he/she would feel happy especially if his/herfindings are sigificant.
